Hello, nice to meet you! I’m Grace.

I realise it’s a marathon to find the right therapist – it’s not easy! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I come from the Himalayas but have been in the UK most of my life. I love my Darjeeling tea and enjoy the brew wherever I go, often taking it with me on my travels reminding me of the lush, green valleys of the Himalayas where the tea grows. I love gardening, reading, writing, puzzles, cups of tea, nice music and ‘doing nothing’ – an art that I am still mastering.

My psychotherapy career started many years ago. However, my career took on a whole new meaning when I lost my first husband to cancer at a rather young age. I was lost, bereft and found myself sinking in the depths of despair. I needed help and I got it, through counselling, prayers, family, and support groups. It was a traumatic loss. During those dark times, I held onto hope, which seemed rather slim…but it grew over time, and I discovered the joy of life and living once again.

As a counsellor, I use integrative approach which means I use a combination of modalities to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Drawing on a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, Person-centred, Psychodynamic, and Solution focussed brief therapy, I aim to give the best. I am also a certified practitioner in ‘Attachment-Based Psychotherapy”, which means I focus on the impact of early relationships on an individual, identifying the various attachment styles and working towards a way forward. I provide a non-judgemental, confidential safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe we can find hope and joy in life when we actively seek it, and counselling helps. I believe your life is precious. You are precious, and most things in life are worth fighting for. You are the expert of your life, and I am the helping hand who can walk this journey with you to discover whatever you have lost and wherever you are in life.

I believe in learning from my life experiences and implementing it in my work as a counsellor. I have over 25 years of experience supporting individuals navigating difficult times through my work in charities, teaching, mental health, mentoring and pastoral care. I have experience of working with children, teenagers, adults, couples and in group therapy.

I offer individual therapy, couples therapy and group therapy.

I also offer faith based Holistic Christian counselling, should you desire to go that route. I offer prayers and focus on the powerful words of the Holy Scriptures as stated in the Bible.

I love connecting with God and I try to bring that 'connection' with God in Therapy.  I seek to integrate theology with therapy as I have seen many people over the years, find healing and wholeness in this beautiful blend of the two.  Does it mean that God alone is not sufficient to heal and restore us - definitely not!  But I also believe that we are Gods hands and feet to bring healing and restoration where needed.

Every day is a new beginning with no mistakes on it” says Anne’s teacher, from Anne of Green Gables. This has really inspired me over the years, given me hope and helped me move forward in life over the chaos and madness of life. Being a human and doing life can be challenging and in the process, we make mistakes, sometimes we learn from it and move forward but sometimes we don’t, and we get stuck. Counselling can help to see things from a new perspective and enable us to move forward in life to the “new tomorrow”. We have a choice… to unlearn, to relearn, to re-create and build a new future. Even when life overtakes us and we feel drowned, there is a little bit of us, within us, perhaps buried deep down somewhere that wants to come alive and pushes us to become whole and alive again. Could that be ‘hope’ lying dormant within us? I believe everyone has the capacity and the potential for a new beginning. In counselling, we can pursue that “faint glimmer” within us, dig it out and reignite that passion of life and living once again.
